Trev's initial thoughts:
Music:
Snow Patrol "Final Straw"
I
have to admit that whenever Paddy insists I listen to certain CDs
I am usually fairly impressed - a couple of recent examples being
Interpol and Idlewild.
A websearch for 'Snow Patrol' returned a well designed Flash-based
website. Other
than the usual content for sites of this type, it features a 12-track
Album Sampler for their current offering, Final Straw. This
obviously gives you a idea of what the band are all about but I felt
it wasn't enough for the purposes of this quest. I look forward to
taking delivery of Final Straw from Amazon in the next couple
of days.
Food: Beef Goulash
By
my own admission I haven't exactly put myself out when it comes to
the culinary department. I'm the sort of person who could quite happily
live on more or less the same food indefinitely. Occassional trips
to the Paddy residence have provided me with certain culinary adventures
over the years - Mexican, Thai, Italian etc. but it's always back
to the 'heat it up and scrape it onto my plate' stuff when I get back
to my home in the Fun City. Maybe I need a good woman?
Beef
Goulash? Not even certain what that involves. Yet another websearch
(handy things, computers) gave me the recipe. It included onions (Yuk!).
I will be omitting the onion content.
Wine: French White "Sancerre"
Every
time we win something in our local pub quiz I end up with the bottle
of Lambrini - or some other cheap plonk from Asda - whilst the cash
is distributed among the other team members. This has gone on for
several years now. I probably know more about Beef Goulash (with or
without onions) than wine. It's something else I never really bothered
with.
Apparently,
Scancerre can be purchased at any supermarket, and even me with my
limited number of taste buds should be able to tell this appart from
Lambrini.
Video/Film:
"City of God"
Took
delivery of Paddy's copy of City of God on DVD. No idea what
it's about other than the fact it's set in the streets of a Rio de
Janeiro slum. I wonder if it resembles the less upmarket areas of
the Fun City? I look forward to viewing later.
