We've always wanted to
make a record, constantly talked about it throughout our 25 years
of being. In the old days it was much more difficult, it needed a
recording studio and pots of cash. Unfortunately we've always seemed
to be poorer than the Baghdad Symphony Orchestra and I was so envious
of a friend who funded his first single from a big win on the horses.
But, a generation on, technology has allowed us to do all our recording
ourselves, costing us not much more than our time (well, and an expensive
soundcard, a multi-effects processor, a bass, a synth
). Our
first EP Don't Squeeze My Buboes (incidentally I must
give credit to Fofe for coming up with the title) was spawned during
a holiday with Trev when he finally conceded that I had a better ear
for a good tune than he. Trev has come on leaps and bounds since then
but still needs to be kept in check for fear of a return to his evil
ways. Still, he's done a great job on this EP in my view and manages
not to get violent when I tell him it would be better to record an
entire part from scratch.
We've re-worked some of our oldest songs (from the period 1979-86)
for our first effort and we're looking forward to doing new songs
after this. In the meantime sound clips will be available here for
your perusal. Hope they make you sick.
